The Canadian Federation of Students NL believes the upcoming provincial budget will “set the tone” for how government plans to tackle education over the next four years.
The organization recently released its budget submission for 2026, outlining some of the measures they’d like to see.
Chair Nicolas Keough says the PCs first budget will be an important one, and they want to see government make an investment in education and students.
He argues that government “needs to turn this ship around” because of the way things have been trending at MUN.
Keough says the federation is in talks with several government departments to get their points across.
He says they have had a meeting with the education minister, and are going to meet with the health and housing ministers too. He says they are looking for education as a whole to be a priority.
