The Minister of Health believes the province’s new mental health facility is “understaffed and doesn’t meet the mental health needs of patients”
Lela Evans says the province needs to find more beds to help ease the strain on the system.
She would like to see the current six beds available in Labrador increased, as well as more beds for the province’s west coast and Northern Peninsula.
The issue, as always, is staffing.
“We’ve got to make sure that we have the people on the ground to deliver them. It’s just so important. And over in the west coast, we do need to make sure that people over on the west coast, up on the Northern Peninsula, people in Labrador,” says Evans.
