The provincial court in Stephenville is closed to the public today due to a shortage of Sheriff’s officers.
The court is hoping to resume operations tomorrow.
Stephenville is already hearing matters from Port aux Basques after the circuit court there was abruptly suspended last fall.
The circuit court in Baie Verte was also indefinitely suspended, along with all civil and traffic hearings and Contraventions Act cases.
A working group was formed by government to address matters facing the courts and is expected to report to government in the coming weeks.
