The province’s fifth water bomber, out of commission for the last eight years, has been repaired and is ready for service in time for the summer fire season.
The aircraft had been sitting idle in a hangar after it was damaged on a pond on the Burin Peninsula in 2018.
The previous government had been weighing whether to repair the aircraft, or sell it, but last year a $15 million contract was awarded to repair the plane.
The waterbomber completed test flights last week and Forestry Minister Pleaman Forsey says it’s ready to join the province’s fleet.
