The Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure says the redevelopment of St. Clare’s will come in at a much lower cost than building a new hospital complex.
Liberal MHA Bernard Davis asked Minister Barry Petten about whether a cost analysis had been conducted by the current government on its planned rehabilitation of St. Clare’s.
Petten says he tabled a cost analysis on the so-called “tower of power on Kenmount Crossing which was upwards of probably $10 or $14 billion.” He says the provincial budget is $11 billion. “I would hazard a guess from the expert people that I’ve got in my department that they tell me that we’re well in hand to do the maintenance and to do the renovation, redevelopment of St. Clare’s Hospital for a lot, lot less than $14 billion.”
