The group Trans Support NL has released a new toolkit aimed at improving gender-inclusive healthcare practices in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Project facilitator Sydney Knapman says they spoke with gender-diverse people and healthcare professionals to determine what is, and isn’t, working in the healthcare system.
She says the toolkit includes information on how to improve inclusivity and create “welcoming spaces.”
She says it can be “daunting” for people to enter healthcare facilities if they aren’t sure providers can appropriately interact with them. She says part two of the toolkit will specifically look at gender-affirming care and what gender-diverse people want healthcare providers to know.
