The capital city says a demolition order issued by council to the owner of a dilapidated and burned-out home on Mundy Pond had expired with no action taken to raze the neighbourhood eyesore.
The city is now in the process of hiring a contractor to demolish the building.

Area residents have long complained about the state of the property, culminating in a fire that gutted the structure back in March.
City council unanimously approved an order to have the house demolished in May.
St. John’s officials say once a contractor is hired, the city should have a better idea on when the house will finally be flattened
