The Liberals are calling on the provincial government to increase funding for seafood marketing.
The call comes following comments from FFAW president Dwan Street, who says greater emphasis needs to be put on marketing in order to sustain and grow the multi-billion dollar industry.
Fisheries critic Elvis Loveless, who was a minister under the Liberal administration, says the long-term success of the fishing industry depends on ensuring that the world knows about the product that comes from here.
They would like to see government develop “creative marketing strategies” to expand its global reach.
