Newfoundland and Labrador has joined nine other provinces in signing a direct-to-consumer agreement that would allow alcohol sales to other provinces across the country.

The agreement, signed by all provinces except Quebec, allows people to buy alcohol directly from a brewery, winery, or distillery and have it shipped to their home.

Premier Tony Wakeham says the move will not affect any jobs.

“That gives us another opportunity for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, and it’s all about the whole Team Canada (approach),” he told reporters.

“One of the things that has come out of all of these tariff discussions and the imposition of tariffs by the United States is an opportunity for Canada as a country to look both inward and outward.”
