A man was arrested for impaired driving while getting off the Fogo Island Ferry yesterday.

The RCMP were alerted to a possible impaired driver by a passenger on the boat.

The man’s vehicle was stopped as he tried to pull onto the wharf.

An open bottle of liquor and contraband tobacco were located inside his vehicle during a search.

RCMP say the man failed a roadside breath test and he was arrested and brought to the local health centre for a blood sample.

Police are awaiting the results to determine if charges of impaired driving are appropriate.
