The City of Mount Pearl is looking forward to the completion of the Team Gushue Extension.

Mayor Dave Aker says based on cellphone data collected by the city, they have quite a few people passing through the area during the rush hour – many of them en route to other areas like the Goulds or Southern Shore.

Because of all the traffic, some of the road surfaces – like Park Avenue and Mount Carson – have taken a beating.

Aker says once the highway is completed later this fall, the city will be looking to give those areas some extra TLC.

He says council is waiting for the Team Gushue to open before starting any work on Mount Carson. The bottom of Park Avenue is also an area in need of work, however, that’s no small job. Mayor Aker says on top of paving work, they will need to replace the water and sewer system along that area.
