Summer heat is slowly giving way to fall chill and that means frost warnings for much of the province tonight.

The west coast, south coast, central Newfoundland, the metro region, and parts of Labrador are under a risk of frost overnight with temperatures, especially in low lying areas, dropping into the single digits.

David Neil, a meteorologist at the Gander Weather Office, says the number of 20-degree days will grow fewer as we march through September.

“It’s that time of year when people with plants which haven’t been harvested may have to start taking some precautions with them,” he says.
