The Baltic III is another step closer to finally being removed from Cedar Cove.
The bulk carrier ran aground under the cliffs back in February of 2025.
Last week, a large portion of the ship’s bow was removed and brought to shore where it will be cut into smaller pieces.
Bruce English of the Canadian Coast Guard says watching the ship getting dismantled has been an eye-opening experience.
“It’s simply amazing…the stern piece has separated from the bow.”
Resolve Marine has been on site for the last couple of months, working on the vessel’s removal and breaking it down for scrap.
That brings the total amount of metal removed from the ship to 5,700 tonnes – which equates to 50 per cent of the vessel’s overall bulk.
