The town of Natuashish is in mourning after the loss of two men in a boating mishap near Nain yesterday.

The Mushuau Innu First Nation office is closed today out of respect for the Piwas and Rich families.

The band council is thanking emergency responders and support teams for helping to find the two men and bring them back to Nain. They will then be transported back to Natuashish.

In the meantime, the band council is asking people to avoid speculation and discussion online to protect the families and everyone affected by the tragedy.

The incident is under investigation.
