Eight people have been invested into the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador in a ceremony at Government House yesterday.
Among the recipients is Evangeline Drudge, who worked in the hospital system at locations throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and who helped bring medivac services to parts of coastal Labrador.
“I started down there in 1965, so it was a different environment then. We just had a hospital plane that went and picked up the people, and then we needed a system to be in place.”
“We had a wonderful medivac system that certainly served the needs of the people of northern Newfoundland and Labrador. It wasn’t until a few years ago when the government dismantled that, and it’s all much different now.”)
The 2026 recipients are:
- Ann Bell
- Garrett F. Browne
- Evangeline Mae Drudge
- Kathleen L. Knowling
- Randy Murphy
- Dr. A. Marion Pardy
- Ronald G. Penney
- Winston M.K. Perry
