Police forces expect an increase in traffic this long weekend as people try to squeeze out the last bit of good weather before we get into the colder months of the year – and that means stepped-up enforcement.
“Operation Impact” takes hold right across the country starting today.
RNC Cst. Steph Myers says officers will set up checkpoints focused on impaired, aggressive and distracted driving, as well as speeding and seatbelt compliance.
Cst. Myers says most motor-vehicle collisions are preventable.
Anyone who witnesses anything suspicious or dangerous in their travels should alert the authorities either via 911 or the non-emergent line (709-729-8000 in the metro region) depending on the situation.
