The RCMP encourages everyone to report suspected impaired drivers after busy police stopped four impaired drivers in a 24-hour period over the weekend.
On Friday, police arrested a 71-year-old woman for impaired driving in Bay Roberts after she drove over a curb and onto the sidewalk. A blood sample was taken, and charges are expected to be laid for impaired driving. She was later released.
Later Friday evening, RCMP arrested a 59-year-old man for impaired driving, in Tilton. He provided breath samples nearly twice the legal limit and was released from custody on charges of impaired and for being over the legal limit. He will appear in court on August 21st.
Then on Saturday, police arrested another 59-year-old man, this time in Bay Roberts. He provided samples over three times the legal limit. He will also appear in court on August 21st.
Finally, RCMP arrested a 63-year-old man later Saturday evening for impaired driving in Spaniard’s Bay. He blew twice the legal limit and was released from custody. The 63-year-old will also answer to the charges on August 21st.
