Those who have taken in the pedestrian mall on Water Street in the capital city’s downtown may have noticed a lull in activity in front of some major financial institutions.
Bars and restaurants have created vibrant decks on the sidewalks, and some vendors are moving their merchandise out onto the pavement as well, but there is a bit of “dead zone” in the area where a number of banks are located.

Terry Hussey of Vigilant Management says that area could present a bit of an opportunity for businesses not located on Water Street itself.
He says those financial institutions might be able to partner with vendors who don’t have storefronts downtown.
Hussey admits however, that there may not be enough time left this summer to co-ordinate that kind of effort.
He would be surprised to see things come together before September.
