St. John’s City Council has a tough decision before it tonight: whether to allow a bar smack-dab in the middle of a residential area in the centre city where parking spaces are a coveted commodity.

Jack Axes would need a rezoning to move into an old corner store at the intersection of Merrymeeting Road and Mayor Avenue.

The property is surrounded by residential properties.

Some people in the area like the proposal, some don’t. The ones who don’t are concerned about parking as the lot only has six spaces.
