A WestJet flight from Toronto to Deer Lake landed safely this afternoon after declaring an emergency.
Flight 518 contacted the airport authority on approach to Deer Lake to ask for assistance. The airport had its emergency system on standby, but the plane landed safely on runway 25 at 1:37 p.m.
The Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority says units Red 1, Red 2, Red 3, and Red 4 were ready to move in.
The airport did not provide any information as to the type of problem being experienced on the plane.
