Response to a program offering a subsidy for home renovations has been so intense that additional resources are being brought in to help process applications.

The Department of Finance and the Canadian Home Builders Association Newfoundland and Labrador have been inundated with hundreds of phone calls and emails. Staff from other areas are being redirected to help out.

Over 3,500 individual applications have been received, and over 800 contractors have been approved to date.

The deadline to apply for the 25 per cent rebate, which is capped at $10,000, is August 7.
