The federal government will proceed with a public inquiry into April’s mass shooting in Nova Scotia, following mounting public pressure.
The announcement came just one day after Nova Scotians, including Members of Parliament, rallied together stating that a review of the massacre was not enough.
The Minister of Public Safety, Bill Blair, confirmed Tuesday that the federal government will proceed with an inquiry, allowing them to summon witnesses for testimony.

Those who are summoned to testify are compelled to do so under an inquiry, but not a review.
Minister Blair stated that the inquiry is in response to pressure from families, advocates, and Nova Scotia MPs for transparency in the process.
Twenty-two people lost their lives.
