The provincial government is allocating more resources in preparation for next week’s reopening of schools.
Education Minister Tom Osborne says the school busing situation was in a mess but they are acquiring additional vehicles. He expects that by the end of September all students who require public transportation will have it. Osborne also says they’re hoping to hire more bus drivers.
Meanwhile. new virtual teaching positions are being added to meet the needs of students who have compromised immune systems and have to learn from home. If they are in school, extra protection such as plexiglass will be added.
Student assistant hours are being increased to ensure students with exceptionalities have the supports they need.
Other resources being added include public health nurses.
