Former Premier Dwight Ball has handed in his resignation as the MHA for Humber – Gros Morne.
Ball made the official announcement on Monday.

Premier Andrew Furey has announced that he will run in the riding. In a release, he says it has always been his intention to run for the first available seat in the legislature.
“As former Premier Dwight Ball decides to leave public life after many years of service, I’d like to thank him for his commitment to the province,” Furey said during his visit to Rocky Harbour on Monday.
“I look forward to the opportunity to represent this beautiful district.”

Ball endorsed Furey via Twitter to become the next MHA for the district.
The Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador opened nominations at 5 p.m. Monday. They will close at 10 a.m. next Sunday, September 13.
