Former Tory MHA and cabinet minister Nick McGrath is seeking a return to the House of Assembly.
McGrath has secured the nomination for the PC Party in the district of Labrador West, the seat he held until being ousted in the 2015 general election.
That loss came on the heels of McGrath’s resignation from cabinet over the controversial Humber Valley paving contract. The auditor general said he pushed through its cancellation within a few hours without properly documenting it, and without telling the premier at the time, Tom Marshall.
That all happened one day before Frank Coleman, the former boss of Humber Valley Paving, was set to be acclaimed as the new leader of the Tory party.
McGrath also defended his decision not to call in a bond worth $9.5 million from Humber Valley Paving, saying he didn’t want to put the company out of business.
