Residents who live in the area of Long Pond Harbour in Conception Bay South say the town council has again failed to adequately consult them on the Ocean Choice International proposal.
Even the town itself has acknowledged that it did a poor job of notifying area residents initially of the proposal to develop a wharf and cold storage facility. The project has since gone to a land use assessment.
Resident Andrea Canning says the Terms of Reference for the assessment go to council at tonight’s meeting, but the recommendation came from a committee meeting last Tuesday. The public consultation didn’t end until Friday, three days later. She says information from the consultation was meant to be included for consideration in the Terms.
Canning is wondering about the reference to having a “mud wave” to the south. Residents have been asking what is a mud wave but have not gotten a satisfactory response.
The project was rejected the first time around but OCI is confident that it will eventually be approved.
