Police have charged a 19-year-old Hopedale man with second-degree murder following a violent assault in the town earlier this year.

On the afternoon of May 11, RCMP received a report that a man was killed at a home in Hopedale. A 44-year-old man was found unresponsive at the scene.

He was airlifted to the Health Sciences Centre due to the seriousness of his condition. He died over two months later as result of those injuries.

Today, RCMP arrested 19-year-old Daniel Onalik, and charged him with second-degree murder.

He remains in custody where he awaits another court appearance next week.
