After 12 weeks on the picket line, Dominion workers have ratified a new collective agreement with Loblaw.
Unifor confirmed Friday evening that workers accepted the final offer presented by Loblaw, and that return-to-work protocol will be rolled out in the coming days.
Unifor National President Jerry Dias says some improvements were included in the final offer but acknowledges there is still more work to be done to address wages and working conditions at grocery stores across the country.
The new four-year contract will be backdated to October 2019 and will expire on October 28, 2023.
The contract will add an additional 35 cents per hour to the end rates of pay ($1.35 over 4 years). On a one-time basis, any part-time clerk who has more than two, but less than three years of service and hasn’t worked 2001 hours will move up to Minimum Wage plus 40 cents.
The contract will add full-time jobs back to Newfoundland stores and will include protection against the elimination of full-time jobs in the future and a pathway to full-time jobs for part-time workers.
Employees will be receiving a pre-loaded PC Gift card from 500 to 50 dollars.
The contract covers some 1,400 workers at 11 locations across the province, who were on strike since late August.
