Health Canada is hosting free, virtual information sessions this Tuesday and Wednesday on radon—a colourless, odourless gas found naturally in the environment.
It can have damaging health effects on those exposed for a lengthy period.
Exposure to high levels of radon causes lung cancer and the longer you are exposed the greater the risk.
In September the English School District revealed that dozens of schools in the province have been identified for radon remediation through a project with Health Canada.
Health Canada is now urging families and residents living in areas where radon has been identified in the local school to attend an online information session to get their homes tested.
