Area residents have formed a group seeking answers to questions about a massive industrial complex slated for Long Pond in CBS.
Andrea Canning helped form the Facebook page Responsible Development of Long Pond after learning about the scope of the development.
Ocean Choice International is planning a five-storey industrial development in Long Pond Harbour. The company acquired 12.6 acres of water lot from the town for one dollar, yet the current plan shows just 4.2 acres of development. Indications are the rest of the area will eventually be filled in to accommodate a second wharf.
Canning says they have lots of questions but the answers have not been forthcoming.
The mayor recused himself from discussions on the matter due to conflict of interest, yet Canning says they learned that he was the one behind a letter to Ottawa supporting the sale of the water lot lease to OCI.
The group had planned to hold a news conference this morning to talk about the project but that newser has since been cancelled. Canning says they cancelled because of developments late last night.
