The province’s fisheries minister is extending condolences to the families and friends of the crew of the Chief William Saulis, lost at sea earlier this week in the Bay of Fundy.
Michael Drake of Fortune was among the crew.
Elvis Loveless says the men and women who devote their lives to working at sea, do so by putting their own lives at risk each and every time they head to the fishing grounds.
He says fishing communities in both Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia share a strong bond and this province joins with Nova Scotians in grieving the loss of six crewmen.
One body, that of Drake, was recovered. The official search for the remaining crewmen has come to a close.
