Central Health is asking Air Canada to re-evaluate its decision to cut service to Gander.
CEO Andree Robichaud says Central Health relies on the services of both health care workers and suppliers who travel in and out of the region.
Temporary and locum physicians are needed to maintain safe and reliable services to the central region says Robichaud, and they rely heavily on air travel to do so.
The health authority expects the Air Canada cuts announced last week will have an impact on the ability of health care workers to get to communities when their services are needed most.
That’s added to the already complicated process in place for locum and temporary health care travel caused by pandemic restrictions.
Robichaud is asking Air Canada to re-evaluate its decision because of the impact to health care services in the region.
