A woman whose collection of memorabilia helped to breathe new life into the Royal Canadian Legion last summer has passed away.
Madonna Porter of CBS died on Monday at the age of 70.
Over the last several years of her life, Porter curated a massive collection that included over 500 Barbie dolls, chess sets and radios.

She had so much that she had to store it in a separate building on her property, which she dubbed her “museum.”
Upon hearing of the financial hardships the Legion was facing in the wake of COVID-19, Porter decided to donate her $250,000 collection to Branch 1.
On the day the Legion came to collect the keepsakes, Porter was beaming with pride, saying donating the collection was the best thing she had ever done.
She told VOCM News at the time that her dreams had come true, and she was happy that her collection was going to a place where it would be remembered and appreciated.
