A special event is taking place this evening in Outer Cove to raise funds in memory of a well-known local resident who made an impact on the local sports community.

Ron Cadigan passed away in June of 2017. He was known for hosting hockey schools at no cost to students, organized and refereed a ball hockey league for kids at Kelly Park and hosted an annual Fun Run in Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.

The Ron Cadigan Foundation was launched in his name by his sons Dan and James Cadigan that offers kids the equipment required to participate in sporting activities and allows families to register their children in sports.

The annual Ron Cadigan Foundation Fun Run takes place at Kelly Park in Outer Cove this evening at 6 p.m.
