A former leader in the province’s rugby community has died. Tom Jacobs passed away on August 4 at the age of 78.
Jacobs was originally from Baie Verte, but moved to St. John’s when he was a teenager in 1958.
He became involved with rugby in the early 90s and was involved with the Dogs RFC. He also served as a president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Rugby Union.
Outside of rugby, Jacobs was a businessman, and also served as the president of the CEI Club and the Kiwanis Club.
A memorial service for Jacobs and his wife Ada, who died in last December, will be held later in the fall.
