Mining company Vale is working to bring 39 miners trapped in the Totten Mine near Sudbury, back to the surface.
The workers have been stuck underground since Sunday afternoon.
Sudbury media are reporting that the workers are safe, and according to a release from the company they will leave the mine by a secondary ladder system.
The workers were left in the mine overnight after the usual conveyance used to get miners out was taken offline following what is being described as an incident in the shaft.
