The Liberals held their largest get-together since the start of the pandemic last night at the St. John’s Convention Centre.
The 500-dollar-a-plate event—one of the party’s biggest fundraisers—was attended by about 400 people including caucus members, former premier Dwight Ball and Premier Andrew Furey’s father, George, the speaker of the Senate.
All were required to scan their VaxPass or show proof of vaccination, as well as photo ID.
Premier Furey made “hope” the theme for the evening, and the future. Furey says it must be the answer to the province’s struggles, adding it’s already proven itself to be.
Furey’s 20-minute speech touched on a litany of well-known challenges and accomplishments.
The night also featured the first live performance by the Shalloway Youth Choir in almost two years.
