Municipalities in the Metro region are excited about the possibility of housing the Newfoundland Growlers.
President and CEO of Deacon Sports and Entertainment, Dean MacDonald, confirmed yesterday that the company is looking to build its own facility in the Northeast Avalon.
MacDonald spoke highly of DSE’s experience working with Mount Pearl, Paradise, and CBS.
Mount Pearl Mayor Dave Aker says the city already has a viable location for a new facility. He says a development next to the Glacier is a fine location and they would love to use it for recreation if the opportunity arose.
Mayor Dan Bobbett also pitched his case of how Paradise could benefit the Growlers. Bobbett says council would welcome any business as successful as MacDonald’s, adding that Paradise is a big hockey town.
