An underage operator had to be taken to hospital for treatment on the weekend after the side-by-side he was operating flipped over in Carbonear.

Harbour Grace RCMP were called to the area of Circular Road in Carbonear shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The side-by-side, with two underage occupants, flipped over when the driver was reportedly doing donuts. The driver was treated for minor injuries, and the passenger was uninjured.

The ATV was seized and impounded. Tickets are expected to be issued to the operator for a number of violations, while his parent has been ticketed for allowing the underage operation of an ATV.
