Stay tuned is the message from federal Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan on concerns raised following a recent cut to federal summer jobs funding for Easter Seals.
The 55 per cent cut in funding used to hire summer students forced Easter Seals to redirect money set aside for a new accessible playground in order to keep their summer camp program for children with disabilities running.
Minister O’Regan issued a statement to questions from VOCM News indicating that Easter Seals and other non-profits are “vitally important” and that, while the demand for funding is significant, MP Joanne Thompson is working on the issue.
O’Regan indicates that more details are coming.
