A 51-year-old woman from Kitchener, Ontario is facing eight charges related to fraudulent activity in the metro region and police want to know if more potential victims exist.
RNC officers responded to a report of fraud from a business on Pippy Place in St. John’s on Tuesday. Police learned that a woman had purchased a cell phone using a false id. An investigation into similar complaints from other locations discovered that the woman had apparently obtained a large quantity of valuable merchandise using a false id.
The suspect, 51-year-old Paula Malandruccolo of Kitchener, Ontario was located and is now facing eight fraud-related charges. They include illegal possession or trafficking of government identity documents, identity fraud, uttering forged documents, fraud over $5,000, and failure to comply with a court order.
She’s been held to appear in court.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence connected with the investigation, and are requesting more information regarding the activity of the accused in the northeast Avalon region in the last week.
