Justice Minister John Hogan is responding to concerns that the Privacy Commissioner was instructed to review the redactions in a report prepared by the Citizen’s Rep into allegations of bullying and harassment at Elections NL.
Hogan says that was not the case.
He says the letter that was sent asked for assistance and asserts that there was “no word of direction in that.” Hogan cites legislation that allows the commissioner to provide reasonable assistance. However, Hogan says due to a conflict of interest that assistance cannot be provided.
