A large group gathered at Bannerman Park on Saturday for the SlutWalk picnic.
The event encourages people to dress freely to bring awareness to sexual assault victims who have been blamed due to their clothing.
Event co-founder Heather Jarvis started the campaign over a decade ago after a Toronto police officer told a group of university students that women are asking to be sexualized while wearing certain outfits.
Jarvis says the annual gathering serves as a way to offer support to those who have been victim- shamed after being sexually abused.
She says coming out to support events like the SlutWalk is a way to remind victims that they are not responsible for what happened to them.
