A 38-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after crashing his motorcycle on the Burin Peninsula.
A patrol officer noticed a motorcycle on Eagle Road in Burin early Saturday morning in heavy rain. When the officer turned around to pull the motorcycle over, it had already left the scene. The motorcycle crashed a short time later at the intersection of Winterland Road and the Heritage Run highway.
The driver, who police say was showing signs of impairment, was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was treated and released and taken to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were above the legal limit.
The motorcycle, which was unregistered and uninsured, was seized and impounded and the man’s licence was suspended.
