The FFAW will hold a rally today to up the ante to resolve an impasse with this year’s shrimp fishery.
The gathering is set for noon in St. Anthony.
The union says frustrations continue among harvesters and plant workers who have agreed that no boats will land on the Northern Peninsula for the current price of 90 cents per pound.
They blame Royal Greenland and Ocean Choice International for “deliberately acting in poor faith and causing economic distress to inshore harvesters in NL.”
Those planning to attend today’s rally are asked to gather in the main wharf parking lot off Murray Point Road, just beyond the DFO offices in St. Anthony.
The FFAW says anyone with a stake in the fishery should show up to pressure the provincial government to resolve the impasse.
A similar event was held Friday in Port au Choix.
