The future of the Newfoundland and Labrador Down Syndrome Society could be in jeopardy if participation doesn’t increase.
That’s according to board member Jessica O’Reilly.
The volunteer-based organization is one of many groups struggling to return to pre-pandemic numbers.
The society, which provides supports and socialization opportunities for those with down syndrome, is struggling to find participants for their largest fundraising event, the Bob Robson Classic Golf Tournament.
O’Reilly says if the fundraiser can’t go ahead, the organization may not have the financial means to stay open.
She says if they have to cancel the golf fundraiser, they will have to find another way to raise money. She says her biggest fear is having to shut down the society if they don’t have enough funds to run their programs.
