The Norris Arm Volunteer Fire Department has a new piece of equipment which will help with outdoor rescues throughout the central Newfoundland region.
The fire department officially dedicated its new $16,000 dollar “Snowbulance” in memory of a former member who lost his life in a snowmobile accident several years ago.
The machine can be towed by snowmobile or ATV with wheels for the summer and skis for the winter.
Deputy Fire Chief Lester Brenton says the equipment, which will be available to first responders throughout the central region, will go a long way in helping people who run into trouble while out in the woods or on snowmachine.
He says the machine is heated and lighted, and can accommodate a patient and a first responder who can help the patient until they’re transferred to an ambulance.
