A stalled human trafficking case appears to be back on track after months of delays.
It was almost a year ago when RCMP held a news conference to announce the first-ever such charges laid in the province.
At the centre of it, 36-year-old Dominic Delisle, who has a history of pimping-related convictions here and in Quebec.
A month before the news conference, Delisle and another man were stopped on the west coast near Howley, with police seizing cocaine and a loaded gun.
That case will be called again in Corner Book on August 1.
The delays in St. John’s have involved issues getting all of the Crown evidence against Delisle to his lawyer, Jon Noonan.
But in court today, Noonan reported progress on that front, saying the tech problems have been resolved.
With that, he asked and was granted two weeks to review all the files, with potential pleas pending when the case is called again on August 8.
Delisle remains in custody at HMP.
