A crewmember on board a fishing vessel 450 km southeast of St. John’s had to be airlifted to hospital Saturday evening.
The Halifax Joint Rescue Coordination Centre responded to the situation.
A cormorant helicopter was dispatched. It had to refuel on the Hibernia platform before flying through the fog to reach the vessel.

A 413 squadron Hercules also provided support during the operation.
There’s no word on the current condition of the crew member.
