Harbour Grace RCMP are trying to identify a female who they say eluded them at numerous attempted traffic stops in the overnight hours earlier this week.
RCMP tried to pull over a speeding vehicle on Birch Hills Road in Bay Roberts just before midnight on March 18th.
Police say the black 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross failed to stop and sped away.
An hour or so later, the same SUV was spotted by police on the Cross Roads in Bay Roberts. Again, an attempt was made to pull the vehicle over, and it once again sped away.
A few hours later, the SUV was located on Gould’s Ridge Road in Cupids. The vehicle struck a police cruiser which tried to prevent it from leaving the scene, before it again sped away.
The registered owner of the Mitsubishi was identified, but the identity of the woman driving the vehicle has not yet been determined. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 596-5014 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
